Schieder-Schwalenberg, November 2009 – Naotake Okubo, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SEKISUI Chemical Corporation, paid his first visit to SEKISUI SPR Europe GmbH in early November.

For two whole days the Head Office of SEKISUI SPR Europe (SSPRE) at Schieder-Schwalenberg in North Rhine-Westphalia was firmly in Japanese hand. Naotake Okubo, Former Chief Executive and since the beginning of 2009 Chairman of the Supervisory Board, was accompanied by Kozo Takami, CEO SSPRE, Robert Toyoda, Member of the Board of SSPRE, and Tomoyuki Tagaki, Manager of SEKISUI Chemical. The four Chief Executives from Japan gained an impression of the work of SSPRE, in which SEKISUI Chemical has a majority holding of 75%, by way of product demonstrations and viewings at customer sites.
The itinerary of the guests led by Corporate Head Naotake Okubo included a tour of the production of SEKISUI NordiTube liners at Schwalenberg, a test construction site for NORDIPIPE liners by Hanover municipal utilities and a construction site of subsidiary KMG LinerTec at Schieder, which is already employing Japanese SPR technology.

Global networking in the Group
“Backed by the strong SEKISUI Chemical Group we are able to offer tailor-made trenchless pipe rehabilitation technologies worldwide,” comments Edmund Luksch, President of SEKISUI SPR Europe GmbH, describing the advantages of global networking in the SEKISUI Group. For example, in future the NORDIPIPE liner will also be used in Japan for the rehabilitation of drinking water pipelines. The first customers were able to inspect the European pipe rehabilitation product at the Sewage Works Exhibition in Tokyo at the end of September.
New brand identity: SEKISUI CPT becomes SEKISUI SPR

Singapore/Schieder-Schwalenberg, June 2009. SEKISUI CPT, leading supplier of underground infrastructure technologies, now presents itself under the new brand identity of SEKISUI SPR. Since the SEKISUI Chemical Co., Ltd. acquired a majority holding in CPT almost a year ago the companies have been consolidating to form the new SEKISUI SPR Europe Group with a consistent appearance and standardised company and product names.

With the rebranding SEKISUI SPR Europe is creating the prerequisites for further growth and increased market recognition in the international competition The name change of several subsidiaries, e.g. SEKISUI Rib Loc Australia Pty Ltd. and SEKISUI SPR Asia Pte. Ltd., stress the focus. “In the past few months we have grown together even more closely as a group. The renaming of the companies and single brand strategy is a logical consequence and enables us to offer tailor-made solutions for trenchless pipe rehabilitation as a team to our customers all over the world,” explains Edmund Luksch, President of SEKISUI SPR Europe GmbH. The business combination brings further expertise to the group and underscores its technological leadership in the field of subterraneous infrastructure solutions. The goal is to make SEKISUI SPR a synonym for outstanding technologies and services worldwide. In addition, SEKISUI SPR is standardising its product portfolio: for example RIBLINE will now be marketed under the name SPR PE, EXPANDA under SPR EX and RIBSTEEL under SPR ST. The link to the SPR product group is thus evident at a glance.
Launch and live demonstration in Singapore

The new SEKISUI SPR brand was presented publicly for the first time on 23 June at the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2009 – the international platform for experts and decision-makers in the water industry. The extremely positive reaction of customers and business partners to the new branding is confirmation of the path taken.

At an exhibition stand shared with UIEP (SEKISUI’s Urban Infrastructure and Environmental Products Company) at Water Expo from 23 to 25 June the staff of the SEKISUI SPR Group had their hands full explaining the products and technical solutions in the field of trenchless pipe rehabilitation to visitors from over 40 countries. Absolute highlight: the live demonstration of SPRTM technology, used mainly for the rehabilitation of large diameters and special pipe forms. A real spiral-wound pipe lining procedure was demonstrated using an SPRTM profile in a pipe with a diameter of 2300 mm. In addition, other spiral-wound pipe lining methods of trenchless pipe rehabilitation were presented at the stand.

A further highlight of the exhibition was a display of SEKISUI pipe inspection technologies in the Innovation Corner of Water Expo. To be included, the products had to fulfil strict criteria, as well as being new and innovative. At the accompanying congress Lawrence Lee of SEKISUI SPR Asia demonstrated the advantages and properties of the products. These technologies developed by SEKISUI use quantitative elastic waves to inspect pipes for damage. This enables concealed signs of aging to be identified, preventing serious damage and minimising costs.
SEKISUI CPT at WASSER BERLIN

From 30th March to 3rd April 2009 SEKISUI CPT presented itself as a leading provider of technologies for trenchless pipe rehabilitation at the international trade fair WASSER in Berlin.

Over 700 companies exhibited on the WASSER BERLIN the latest technologies, products and services around water and wastewater.
Focus of the SEKISUI CPT booth was, next to the TUBETEX and NORDIPIPE (NordiTube) liners for pressure pipe rehabilitation, the SPR (Spiral Wound Lining) technology. The subsidiary KMG LinerTec, which displayed its services at the SEKISUI CPT stand as well, is currently introducing successfully the SPR Technology into the European market. "As an international meeting place for the water industry and as most important trade fair for the European market this year, the WASSER BERLIN is the ideal platform for the presentation of the SPR technology. We established new contacts with interested parties from Eastern Europe and deepen existing customer relationships, "said Christopher Moritz, CEO of KMG LinerTec.

Highlights during the five days were the SEKISUI CPT Breakfast on 1st April 2009 with over 70 customers, as well as a presentation of Taka Yamauchi. As one of the top 350 speakers he presented the SPR technology as an innovative solution for the rehabilitation of large, non-circular pipes at the accompanying congress on 2nd April 2009.
